What is Lift Up Vikes?

Lift Up Vikes! Student Resource Center & Food Pantry offers a convenient, dignified, and compassionate process to connect CSU students to resources that supplement nutrition and other basic human needs as they strive to earn a college degree. Lift Up Vikes! Is often shortened to LUV!

Where is Lift Up Vikes located?

Because of a very generous donation from the Fowler Family, the Lift Up Vikes Good Pantry is a beautiful space on the first floor of Berkman Hall. Room 148 is the Resource Center entrance (across from Success Coaching) and room 122 is the Pantry Entrance (next to Papa Johns and the computer lab).

Is the pantry open?

Yes. The pantry is open every month. Check our website under Food Pantry Information for upcoming dates.

What are expectations for using the pantry?

  • We expect CSU students who come to the pantry need to use the pantry
  • We ask students to bring their CSU ID to check-in
  • Students may access the pantry once per week, each week we are open
  • Visitors / Shoppers in the pantry may not take videos or photos while in the pantry
  • Phone conversations should conclude prior to entering the pantry
  • Pantry Assistants are there to assist students and also remind about expectations
  • Everyone in the pantry will be treated kindly and respectfully

What is the pantry process?

Students must complete a one-time contact and agreement form prior to using the pantry. Once that form is completed, either online or in-person, they are welcome to shop during the open pantry hours

Why do I need to fill out the one-time contact & agreement form?

As a partner agency of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, there are certain data points that we need to track about the community we serve.

Do I need to prove my level of need to shop in the pantry?

No! We do not require documentation of need. We ask students to self-determine if they need access to LUV! We provide a FREE grocery shopping experience to all CSU students. All you need to do is provide your current CSU ID and fill out our one-time contact & agreement form!

Does the Lift Up Vikes! Food Pantry accept donations?

Yes, we do! All we ask is that you send us an email in advance so we can make sure someone is in the pantry to accept your donations! Our email is liftupvikes@csuohio.edu and we are happy to make suggestions for our most needed items.

What kinds of items are available in the pantry?

We offer a large variety of goods ranging from dried and canned goods to hygiene items and fresh produce. Our inventory is subject to change based on the availability of the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

What if I am not available during the open times of the pantry?

If you are not available during the open pantry times, we encourage you to reach out to us via email at liftupvikes@csuohio.edu so we can coordinate a date and time that works best for you to shop with us.

What if I need access to the pantry more often than when it’s open?

If you need access to the pantry more often than when it is open we recommend that you reach out to CARE management at magnusacts@csuohio.edu. CSU CARE management will help you with your specific needs and provide you with long-term assistance.

What if I have specific dietary needs?

We work hard to be inclusive and conscious of the dietary preferences and restrictions of our clients. If you are shopping with us and have any questions or concerns about dietary restrictions and nutrition labels, feel free to ask one of our food pantry assistants for help!

What else does Lift Up Vikes do?

Lift Up Vikes works closely with off and on campus partners to create or provide resources for students. LUV! also offers programs on SNAP eligibility, nutrition, financial wellness, and more.
