Faculty-Student Collaborations
In summer 2016 the Office of Research funded three undergraduate students?to conduct a project called "Voices of Incarcerated Mothers." The students explored the impact of video journaling on functional outcomes for incarcerated mothers, and?also created documentary content to explore how to change attitudes toward incarcerated mothers. The students developed?a?journaling program for incarcerated mothers?and discovered emergent themes for the successful re-entry of?women into their families. The students collected a wide array of? documentary assets, including focus groups and individual interviews of incarcerated?mothers,?video journaling, and person-on-the-street interviews. The project was conducted by Markisha Robinson, Lukas Hamlescher, and Jasmine Conkle under the supervision of Professor Jill Rudd and Professor Kim Neuendorf.

There are many examples of successful faculty-student collaborations at CSU. Dr. Kiril Streletzky, Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, is an excellent example of a faculty member with a history of engaging students in research collaborations. He has successfully collaborated with many students, including undergraduate students, as part of his research program at CSU. Dr. Streletzky recently presented an invited talk, Engaged physics learning through undergraduate research, undergraduate teaching, and SPS activities, at the 246th American Chemical Society National Meeting in which he emphasized the role of CSU's Undergraduate Summer Research Award Program.
