Ohio Convenes Higher Education Leaders for AI Symposium

The Inter-University Council of Ohio is hosting its inaugural Artificial intelligence Symposium on Tuesday, June 11 at the Statehouse Atrium. The symposium is bringing together experts in artificial intelligence from Ohio’s 14 public universities, industry leaders and government agencies to discuss how Ohio can leverage its artificial intelligence assets to advance the interests of the state.

The topics being discussed include:

  • Deep Fakes: Disinformation in the 2024 Presidential Election
  • The Future of AI in Employment: Preparing Students for the New Workforce
  • Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, and AI: Countering Cutting Edge Threats
  • How Ohio’s Public Universities Are Leading the State in AI Research and Strategy
  • The University-Industry Partnerships Driving Ohio’s AI Innovation

IUC President Laura Lanese noted that Ohio’s 14 public universities are a strategic asset for the state and are uniquely situated to prepare students for the AI workforce, to promote research and collaboration across sectors, and to engage with industry to ensure Ohio remains economically competitive in the national and global artificial intelligence markets.

The AI in Higher Education Symposium is open to all. RSVPs can be sent to Kate Mowry.

The Inter-University Council of Ohio (IUC) was established in 1939 as a voluntary educational association of Ohio’s public universities. Today the association represents Ohio’s 14 public universities. Together, these institutions offer a broad range of associate, baccalaureate, graduate, and professional programs. The association’s purpose is to facilitate the development of common interest and concern of its members and to assist in sustaining and improving the quality of public higher education. IUC also engages in public relations, research, and government liaison work on behalf of its members.
